Subject: Shepard's Legal Citations (Westlaw)

Greetings!
I'm passing on a message (attached to this email) about UNC-CH Law Libraryannouncing that it has electronic access to Shepards Citations on computers open tothe public. That means our faculty and students can search much more conveniently forthe citations they need, but our folks do have to travel to the Law Library.
I'll take some time to see how the access works before the fall semesterbegins and report back to you. Of course, you are all welcome to make the trip andcheck the electronic access to Shepards yourselves.

Best regards,
Barbara P. Semonche, Director, The Park Library

" The Law Library is experimenting with a more accessible electronicsubscription to Shepard's Citations. Previously, Shepard's Citations, thetraditional tool for updating court opinion research was only available inprint or through the Law Library's restricted LexisNexis subscription.
Our new Shepard's subscription is available only on the public computersin the Law Library, and it is not yet appearing on our or your website or evenin the catalog. However, I thought you would like to spread the word thatthis tool is now available in the Law Library.
Journalism, political science, library science and other researchers maybe doing legal research that would benefit from the use of this tool. Obviously, lawyers as well.
We will be tracing usage, and renewal of the subscription will depend onhow much it is used. So, forward those folks over here!"
