Database search strategies (a few guidelines):
1. Nexis (via Academic Universe)
        A.  Select "Reference," then "Biographical;" next type in name of governor and
        "all available dates." Note that not all articles will pertain to your search needs;
skim them and select what you need. Searching for quotes from people ABOUT
a governor will be difficult. Most articles will be quoting the governors.

        B.  "News," then "General News," then click on "Guided Search" tab. Enter
your search terms and select "all available dates." If you wish to select a
newspaper or magazine, consult the "sources" list by clicking on the button.
Now you are ready to click on the "Search" button. For guidance on doing
searches, please check with the Park Librarian on duty.

2. National Governors Association (web)
Lots of useful material on governors' staff, policies, speeches, positions, campaigns.
Simply scroll through the site and click on items of interest.

3. Nexis (via Park Library's Research Software)
Make an appointment with library director to work
with you on finding "quotable quotes" about governors.

4. InfoTrack Web (via UNC Electronic Resources)
Select "InfoTrack Web," then "Expanded Academic ASAP," next select
"keyword search" from left column. On the search screen, enter the governor's
name, add additional keywords (biography or cover story or feature or editorial
or interview) and then click on "Search." This is merely a suggested search; there
no way of knowing what the results will be (either too many irrelevant hits or too
few) until you do the search. Be prepared to fine-tune your research strategies.
Consult with the Park Librarian for further guidance.

5. Google Search    http://www.google.com
Open your browser to Google. Type the name of the governor and these
        suggested additional key terms:
                    "george pataki" +approval
                                or
                    "george pataki" +critics
                                or
                    "george pataki" +polls
                                or
                    "george pataki" +campaign
                                or
                    "george pataki" +family
or any other relevant key word. Then examine your search results. Be prepared
for the fact that many of your results simply may not meet your needs. Keep
searching using various likely key words.
