Cynthia V. Hill

Cindy Hill, Manager of SunLibrary, Sun Microsystems' worldwide information resource, is responsible for providing information services and resources and knowledge collaboration support for all its employees. Sun is a global enterprise comprised of over 39,000 technical, business and marketing staff.

Prior to her current position, Cindy managed the libraries at Failure Analysis Associates, Inc. (now Exponent, Inc.) where her staff and she provided in-depth research and information in the scientific, legal and medical disciplines and at Debra Radabaugh Associates, an executive recruiting company in Silicon Valley.

Cindy has a Bachelor of Arts in English, an elementary teaching credential, and her Master of Library Science from San Jose State University. Cindy is an adjunct professor in the Library and Information Sciences program at San Jose State University. She is a frequent lecturer speaking at national and international conferences on the information profession, technology uses, and management issues in the corporate library environment.

Cindy started her involvement with SLA by accepting an invitation to come to a dinner (which was really an invitation to join San Francisco's Planning Committee). She's been involved with both the San Andreas and the San Francisco Bay Region Chapter ever since, plus several divisions and recently was on the SLA board of directors. She's just completed a three-year assignment to the IFLA Committee on Copyright and Other Legal Matters and is finishing up her two-year term as secretary to SJSU's SLIS Alumni Association.

Cindy finds it thrilling to be above tree line (higher than 10,000 feet), gasping for air and watching the birds fly below her. When not hiking, she's on either her road bicycle or her motorcycle.
