Bill Fisher

Bill Fisher is currently the Professor,  Graduate Studies & Research at San Jose State University. Prior to his current appointment, he was professor and associate director of SJSU's School of Library & Information Science, where he primarily taught in the areas of management, business information, and special libraries/information centers.

He has served on SLA's Scholarship Committee and Professional Development Committee. In addition, he was appointed to the Special Committee on Competencies for Special Librarians, the Presidential Commission on Recruitment, Ethics and Professional Standards, and chaired the President's Visioning Committee. He was also elected to SLA's Board of Directors. At the chapter level, Fisher has served in a variety of positions in both the Southern California chapter and the San Andreas chapter, including being President of both chapters. His efforts have been recognized by both chapters with local awards.

Fisher attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned a BA and MA; the State university of New York at Geneso, where he earned a MLS; and the University of Southern California, where he earned a Ph.D. In addition to his position at San Jose State, he was on the faculty at UCLA's Graduate School of Library & Information, and held positions at California State University, Dominguez Hills and Florida Atlantic University. He has written extensively and made presentations at SLA and other conferences.
