for the
Fall 1995 issue
of NewsLibraryNews about the untimely death of Sylvia Frisch,
researcher extraordinaire for the
Minneapolis, MN Star Tribune].
"Sylvia Frisch, the Assistant Librarian at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis died in a car accident on September 3. Her husband, Henry, who was driving, was also killed.    "Sylvia was not able to attend many of the SLA conferences, but many of you did get to know her either in person or by talking to her on the phone.
"Sylvia defined reference at the Star Tribune and was immensely helpful to the library staff, the newsroom, and many other departments at out newspaper. She was a master at bringing people and information together.
"Sylvia was an excellent database searcher, but reporters loved to come in just to talk to her. The library staff will always remember Sylvia as a wonderful colleague and friend. She taught us to be better librarians and raised our expectations. We'll miss her immensely, but cherish the memories forever."
