The Park Library (CA 265-271) supports the School’s basic mission of research
and education through its five main goals:
- To select, acquire, catalog, store, and manage materials (current and historic, in print and digital formats) appropriate for mass communication teaching and research in a comprehensive, current, accessible, economical, secure manner.
- To serve as a teaching and research facility for journalism and mass communication students equipped with state-of-the-art technology and managed by a professional media researcher/instructor.
- To promote the School's professional values, ethics, and competencies
in the Park Library's collections, displays, and services.
- To offer suitable space for the use these collections and services.
- To provide attractive, informative displays promoting the values,
ethics, opportunities, contributions, issues, and trends in the journalism and mass communication profession.
- To serve as a model for demonstrating modern news library principles,
practices, and state-of-the-art information storage and retrieval resources to
journalism educators and librarians, newspaper publishers, editors and reporters
and photojournalists, as well as to broadcast journalists and online
journalists.
