    The North Carolina Biotechnology Center served as the host site for the 31st annual business meeting and the 8th annual awards ceremony of the North Carolina Chapter of the Special Libraries Association. (NC/SLA). Attendees enjoyed presentations by major vendors of information services and products: Dow Jones News/Retrieval, Knight-Ridder Information, Lexis/Nexis, Profound, and UMI.

    Barbara Akinwole, NC/SLA President offered greetiings to the membership and congratulations to the newly elected officers. the evening concluded with the presentation of this year's Chapter awards.

Ms. Channing accepted the Chapter's Information Management Award in behalf of Wake Forest University. This award is earned by an organization in recognition of its "support of libraries and information science and the information needs of its community."
