Jody Habayeb, Director Tampa Tribune's Archive & Research Department and chair of the News Division, is the 2002 recipient of the Ralph Shoemaker Award of Merit. Her remarks, including a riotous description of a research effort to discover the authenticity of the  mysterious appearance of actor James Dean's tombstone.

Hannah Sommers, a recent graduate of the University
Texas at Austin, is the 2002 recipient of the News
Division's Vormelker-Thomas Student Award. This 
award is supported jointly by the News Division
and ProQuest
