     Buffalo News, P.O. Box 100, Buffalo, NY 14240 Copy editor for 235,000 circulation daily, June 1986 to October 1990. Wide-ranging fill-in duties, with stints as slot, wire editor, assistant news editor, makeup editor, picture editor, overnight suburban news editor, travel section editor, viewpoints section editor, lifestyles section editor, daily TV editor, comics editor.      El Dorado News-Times, P.O. Drawer 912, El Dorado, AR 71730 News editor for 11,650 circulation daily from January 1984 to June 1985. All-in-one job combined wire desk, copy desk, news desk, photo editing and makeup responsibilities. Wrote weekly column that won state APME award.

     The Observer, P.O. Box Q, Notre Dame, IN 46556 System manager and chief typographer for 11,500 circulation campus daily. Responsible for purchasing, supplies, and basic maintenance for 13-terminal system with printer, Mergenthaler typesetter, modem and off-line CompuGraphics typesetters as backup. Also responsible for maintenance and creation of newsroom software. Created an electronic library index and rewrote predecessor's classified ad package and newsroom file-tracking system. Wrote an invoice-printing patch to commercial accounting package. Created tabular sports stats package and templates for special typography. Trained and scheduled 10 student typographers. Twice served as copy desk chief, training and scheduling staff of 10 student editors.

Extracurriculars: Chief copy editor of campus science magazine; copy editor, proofreader for campus daily; member of dorm council; student equipment manager in athletic department; intramural sports.

     St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, Buffalo, NY 14224 Graduated first in class of 154, May 1976. National Merit Scholar, Notre Dame Scholar, New York State Regents Scholar. School medals for top four-year average in mathematics, English, German and overall.
