SLA Fellows Discussion List |
|
[Note: This list was launched June 13, 2000.]
PURPOSE OF THE LIST The purpose of this discussion list is to offer a convenient format for SLA Fellows to communicate with each other about the issues, concerns and trends involving our Association *and* how we can best provide the support to further the growth and development of SLA. This list is open only to Fellows of SLALIST MANAGER Every electronic discussion list requires a list manager. I'm serving in that role for now. That means I simply do some of the discussion list "housekeeping chores" as needed. Otherwise, this list is open for business right now from any and all of you.HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO SLA-FELLOWS The list administrator, Barbara Semonche, will subscribe each new Fellow annually following the public announcement of the Fellows' names. LIST NAME AND HOW TO POST MESSAGES Most of you have already experience discussion lists in other forums. SLA-Fellows list will be familiar to you. For the record, here are three points to remember:
HOW TO READ & SEARCH ARCHIVED MESSAGES (dating from February 2003) Simply open your web browser and type in this URL http://sla.lyris.net Enter your email address (a password is not necessary unless you have one, then enter it.) If you are a "first time user" of these archives, you will probably have to register at which time you will select a password. If all that earlier registration has been taken care of, simply click on "login." The next screen will display the SLA-hosted discussion lists to which you currently subscribe. Scroll the listing of lists to which you are subscribed. Locate Fellows. Click on it. Wait for screen to load. When next screen appears, click on Begin Reading Messages. Et voila! The messages will display in chronological order. A search link is available at the bottom of each display screen. Finally, please take a look at our SLA Fellows web site. We are trying to gather bio briefs of all Fellows (with photos) for inclusion on the web site. If your bio brief in not included, please contact me, Barbara Semonche, bpsemonch at unc.edu with the info in the body of the email or as an attached file. If you can also include a digital photo (in .jpg format) with the email, all the better.I look forward to hearing from you all. Best regards, Barbara Semonche, Librarian, The Park Library [Note This page was last updated February 2007.] |
