News Division Video: Unsung Heroes |
|
Here is an opportunity to view how newspaper and broadcast librarians in the 1980's performed their work. Remember, this is before the advent of the Internet and its graphical component the World Wide Web. It was prepared and produced by the News Division with photos contributed from over a dozen news media libraries. It runs just under 10 minutes. The video is offered in four connections, 28.8 and 56.6 modems as well as T-1 and ISDN connections. You may click on the one best suited for your machine. The 28.8 and 56.6 files have smaller screen sizes and a corresponding loss of video and audio quality. The T-1 and ISDN files are suitable for high-speed, high-capacity multimedia transmission. However, if your computer is in a network that endures heavy traffic, the quality may suffer. You may experience breaks in the audio and problems with video transmission. [Note: If you have not yet added streaming audio/video to your computer, go to this web site for RealAudio and select the "Free Player" for downloading to your computer. Follow the directions and you should be ready soon to view this video.] Connection Speeds This digitization was done by UNC-Chapel Hill's talented staff at Metalab, specifically Todd Stabley. We are in Todd's debt.
